stop-breathe-relax and enjoy life

Friday, the day we all have been waiting for to begin our long three day weekend. Ah breathe, relax and enjoy life- every time you breathe it is by the mercies of God. Don’t take life for granted, being alive is a privilege. Don’t over work yourself take some time out to relax, and meditate on the Lord. How much time do you spend with the Lord? It is ashamed that the Lord gives us 7 days in a week and 24 hours in a day. Some of us barely pray in the morning or at night. The only time out of that week we give to the Lord is about 2 hours on Sunday Morning or less. That is ashame! We spend almost 98% of our time pleasuring ourselves and being taken up with the things of this world that we give our Lord and savior only 2%. I think there needs to be a shift in that percentage. The Lord deserves more of our time. We need to discipline ourselves to spend time with the Lord daily. We need to have daily devotions with the Lord.

I know that the society we live in today have caused us to be extremely busy at times. But we shouldn’t forget about our Lord. He deserves more than our one minute prayers in the morning or at night. He deserves more than just couple hours in church on Sunday. Some of us don’t even go to Bible study or Prayer meeting because we make excuses like “I am too tired to go to church tonight” or “I need to get to bed early to be awake for work early in the morning.” Come on now don’t you know that if it wasn’t for God’s mercies on our life we wouldn’t be able to wake up the next morning. There are so many people who have gone to bed and never woke up. You don’t know what day you will take your last breath – so live each day like it is your last day. There is a scripture in the Bible that says every step we take is a step closer to our grave. I don’t mean to scare you but it is reality.

I have watch so many family, friends, and church members passed away. My cousin who was murdered thought he had plenty of time to get him self right with the Lord but little did he know. He passed away that same Sunday my dad invited him to come inside church and he refused. Look at another example, I had a friend in college that was very intelligent. She received a Masters, a Bachelor of Engineering and minor in three years. She worked really hard night and day for her degrees. She had major plans to be great in life but little did she know, that her life was going to be taken away a month after she graduated. All her hopes and dreams were gone. Those degrees meant nothing to her in the grave. The only thing that mattered was – her relationship with the Lord.

The same job you put above the Lord may just lay you off one day. Or the car you cherish more than the Lord may just brake down one day or get stolen. The very wife or husband you put above the Lord may just walk away from you one day. But I can tell you that if you put the Lord first He will never leave you.

Keep your focus on the Lord at all times and don’t let go. Don’t sell out your salvation for NOTHING!
