As we are on the topic of communication, we need to remember how important it is to communicate with the Lord. Communicating with the Lord is very essential to our spiritual growth. The more we communicate with the Lord it will build our relationship with him and allow us to know him more.
The Lord desires us to have a genuine relationship with him. To help build our relationship with the Lord we can fast, read the Bible, study the Bible, and pray to him. We communicate to the Lord in our worship and praise. We can even communicate with the Lord through our life style. Communication! Communication!
Prayer is a good way to communicate with the Lord. It allows you to speak to him and listen to him to speak to you. But the one thing that many of us forget is the last part—listening to God. We like to go before the Lord and tell him everything or demand things from him but fail to listen to his voice. I challenge all of us today to take some time out and listen to what the spirit of God is saying to us.
How many hours do you spend praying or in the presence of the Lord a day? The Lord gave us 24 hours in a day, and many of us barely spend one hour praying to him. This one hour includes the whole day. Some people barely pray in the morning when they wake up, or before they go to sleep. Prayer service in most churches is the least attended but yet the most important. A church without prayer is like a house built on the sand—it won’t be able to stand the storm that will come. We need to build our church on prayer.
Where are out prayer warriors? Where are our weeping mothers? When was the last time you pour out to the Lord in prayer? Prayer can lose bonds, break breakthrough, can cause healing and can cast out demons. Prayers can open doors for us whither it is financially, emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually. We are all in need in some areas of our life. No one has it perfect. The reason why we may not see a break through in our life might be that we don’t have a prayer life.
We wonder why we don’t sing the way we use to, we don’t preach the way we use to, we don’t shout the way we use to, we don’t dance the way we use to, we don’t feel the anointing the way we use to, or we don’t have that burning desire for the Lord anymore ----Check your prayer life. The less you communicate with the Lord the further you will drift away. The reason why most of us are not as anointed as we use to be is because we are not in the communion with the Lord like we use to.
We like to blame the pastor or the church. We say they are ones that are causing us not to be anointed, to sing like we use to, to preach like we use to or to praise the Lord like we use to but I beg to differ. If you still have the same relationship level with the Lord and go to a “dead” church, your fire can help to blaze theirs. I think it is in our mindset. If we go to a church that doesn’t seem like ours or is not at the same level as our church, we get discourage and hold back.
We should not be too busy to spend some time during the day to communicate with the Lord. The same way how we take time out for work, our family, our social life, we should also take time out to speak to the Lord. Many Christians lack knowledge of who the Lord is because they don’t spend enough time to get to know him.
Communication with the Lord can help to lighten our daily struggles, increase our faith and so much more. How can we claim to be a “Christian” if we don’t know Christ? Think about it---what is your communication level with the Lord?
