Claim your inheritance.......Don't allow someone else to take it!

For about a month now, the Lord as been dealing with me on the topic of claiming my inheritance, claiming my promise. As mentioned in my previous post, I read the book of Joshua and the main message the Lord was showing me was claiming my inheritance and standing on the promise of God. I have to know my inheritance, fight for it, and claim it.

I thought the message was over but I was so wrong. On Sunday my pastor preached on the same text Joshua 18:3, “Are you a slacker to the promise of God.” He went on to say how important it is for us to fight and claim our promise that the Lord has given to us. I thought that was the just an confirmation to what the Lord has been dealing with me in the book of Joshua.

But this morning, I decided to study another book of the Bible and decided on 1st Kings. I read the first chapter and the same message is being showed to me “claim your inheritance.”

In the book of 1st Kings, Solomon was suppose to become King after David. But while David was sick, someone else tried to take Solomon’s inheritance. But thank God for people looking out for Solomon. Nathan and Bathsheba told David what was happening and reminded him of his promise to Solomon. Then David re-stated his promise and told them to make Solomon King.

For some reason I think the Lord it trying to tell me to claim my inheritance. But what is my inheritance? I am not too sure but it seems no matter where I go, I can’t get away from it.

When God has a message for you, He will show it to you over-and-over again till you get it. That is what I think He is trying to do to me. I think I know what he is trying to tell me but there is apart of me that is running away from that promise.

God right now I pray that you will open my spiritual eyes to see what you are trying to show me. Open my ears to hear what you have to say. Open up mu understanding to understand your words and the things you are showing me. Continue to speak to me and lead me in your path.

Everyone reading this blog entry, I want you to pray for me that I may see what the Lord is trying to show me. Maybe He is showing it to me but I am not seeing it because it doesn’t look the way I thought it would look. Whatever the reason may be, I pray for deliverance and clarity.

  2. I am not wasting my time, GOD is real. If God is not real then who waked you up this morning, you gave allowed you to breath, who made the stars, the sun and moon? Who created you in the womb of your mother? It is no one else but God. God is the reason why you are still here today. If it wasn't for his grace and mercy upon your life, you won't be here today.

Another reason why I know that the Lord is real today is because I am a living testimony of his presence. There was a time in my life when doctors gave me up and thought I wouldn't live again but God healed me. There was another time when I was not able to walk and God healed me, so I can be able to walk today.

When you go thru and think that God is not real, just take a moment and look at your life and the things around you and you will know that God is real.

    God bless you!

  3. God is the reason why I am here today? If cliches made good argument, I could have conquered the world when I was 12. How do have any idea God is real? the stars, the moon, and the sun are still under research, but they will be discovered just like everything else has. Things like how I was created is 100% known, and if you want to ignore proven facts, then you are a fool. Sure you may think "God" healed you, but that's only because you didn't known what was the real cure. Had that kind of thing been predicted, you would not feel so touched by "God". So don't kid yourself, there is no paradise waiting for you after you die. Live for today, and stop degrading society.

  4. Hey Sharmin,
Wonderful topic this week; I enjoy reading it. I would like to comment on what Jaerixon said.
First, I would like to thank you Jaerixon for reading this blog and for commenting. Your respond is genuine and sincerely from your heart. I honestly believe that God send you directly to this devotional Conner for a better clarification of Him.
Many people have asked the same question you are asking. Is God real?

Answer: We know that God is real because He has revealed Himself to us in three ways: in creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. Where did everything come from?" Where did space, time, matter, energy and information come from?
The most basic proof of God’s existence is simply what He has made. “20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1).
God has also revealed Himself to us through His Word, the Bible. Throughout Scripture, the existence of God is treated as a self-evident fact (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 3:14).
The third way in which God revealed Himself is through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 14:6-11). “In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (Colossians 2:9).
Also, natural causes are an inadequate explanation for the amount of precise information contained in human DNA. A person who discounts God is left with the conclusion that all of this came about without cause, without design, and is merely good fortune. It is intellectually wanting to observe intricate design and attribute it to luck.

The following article was written by Marilyn Adamson after her encounter with God. Clearly states the exact words that I want to leave with you. Please read

Does God exist? We know God exists because he pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him.
I was an atheist at one time. And like most atheists, the issue of people believing in God bothered me greatly. What is it about atheists that we would spend so much time, attention, and energy refuting something that we don't believe even exists?! What causes us to do that? When I was an atheist, I attributed my intentions as caring for those poor, delusional people...to help them realize their hope was completely ill-founded. To be honest, I also had another motive. As I challenged those who believed in God, I was deeply curious to see if they could convince me otherwise. Part of my quest was to become free from the question of God. If I could conclusively prove to believers that they were wrong, then the issue is off the table, and I would be free to go about my life.
I didn't realize that the reason the topic of God weighed so heavily on my mind, was because God was pressing the issue. I have come to find out that God wants to be known. He created us with the intention that we would know him. He has surrounded us with evidence of himself and he keeps the question of his existence squarely before us. It was as if I couldn't escape thinking about the possibility of God. In fact, the day I chose to acknowledge God's existence, my prayer began with, "Ok, you win..." It might be that the underlying reason atheists are bothered by people believing in God is because God is actively pursuing them.
I am not the only one who has experienced this. Malcolm Muggeridge, socialist and philosophical author, wrote, "I had a notion that somehow, besides questing, I was being pursued." C.S. Lewis said he remembered, "...night after night, feeling whenever my mind lifted even for a second from my work, the steady, unrelenting approach of Him whom I so earnestly desired not to meet. I gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed: perhaps, that night, the most dejected and reluctant convert in all of England."
Lewis went on to write a book titled, "Surprised by Joy" as a result of knowing God. I too had no expectations other than rightfully admitting God's existence. Yet over the following several months, I became amazed by his love for me.
    6. Does God exist? Unlike any other revelation of God, Jesus Christ is the clearest, most specific picture of God pursuing us.
Why Jesus? Look throughout the major world religions and you'll find that Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and Moses all identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. Surprisingly, Jesus did. That is what sets Jesus apart from all the others. He said God exists and you're looking at him. Though he talked about his Father in heaven, it was not from the position of separation, but of very close union, unique to all humankind. Jesus said that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father, anyone who believed in him, believed in the Father.
He said, "I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."8 He claimed attributes belonging only to God: to be able to forgive people of their sin, free them from habits of sin, give people a more abundant life and give them eternal life in heaven. Unlike other teachers who focused people on their words, Jesus pointed people to himself. He did not say, "follow my words and you will find truth." He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me."9
What proof did Jesus give for claiming to be divine? He did what people can't do. Jesus performed miracles. He healed people...blind, crippled, deaf, even raised a couple of people from the dead. He had power over objects...created food out of thin air, enough to feed crowds of several thousand people. He performed miracles over nature...walked on top of a lake, commanding a raging storm to stop for some friends. People everywhere followed Jesus, because he constantly met their needs, doing the miraculous. He said if you do not want to believe what I'm telling you, you should at least believe in me based on the miracles you're seeing.10
Jesus Christ showed God to be gentle, loving, aware of our self-centeredness and shortcomings, yet deeply wanting a relationship with us. Jesus revealed that although God views us as sinners, worthy of his punishment, his love for us ruled and God came up with a different plan. God himself took on the form of man and accepted the punishment for our sin on our behalf. Sounds ludicrous? Perhaps, but many loving fathers would gladly trade places with their child in a cancer ward if they could. The Bible says that the reason we would love God is because he first loved us.
Jesus died in our place so we could be forgiven. Of all the religions known to humanity, only through Jesus will you see God reaching toward humanity, providing a way for us to have a relationship with him. Jesus proves a divine heart of love, meeting our needs, drawing us to himself. Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, he offers us a new life today. We can be forgiven, fully accepted by God and genuinely loved by God. He says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."11 This is God, in action.
Does God exist? If you want to know, investigate Jesus Christ. We're told that "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."12
God does not force us to believe in him, though he could. Instead, he has provided sufficient proof of his existence for us to willingly respond to him. The earth's perfect distance from the sun, the unique chemical properties of water, the human brain, DNA, the number of people who attest to knowing God, the gnawing in our hearts and minds to determine if God is there, the willingness for God to be known through Jesus Christ. If you need to know more about Jesus and reasons to believe in him.
If you want to begin a relationship with God now, you can.
This is your decision, no coercion here. But if you want to be forgiven by God and come into a relationship with him, you can do so right now by asking him to forgive you and come into your life. Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock. He who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him [or her]."13 If you want to do this, but aren't sure how to put it into words, this may help: "Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins. You know my life and that I need to be forgiven. I ask you to forgive me right now and come into my life. I want to know you in a real way. Come into my life now. Thank you that you wanted a relationship with me. Amen."
God views your relationship with him as permanent. Referring to all those who believe in him, Jesus Christ said of us, "I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand."
So, does God exist? Looking at all these facts, one can conclude that a loving God does exist and can be known in an intimate, personal way.

  5. The mere fact that you are visiting this blog indicated that you are on a search for something meaningful in life and all of the discoveries have not filled up your void. The bible state that no man (individuals) can come into a relationship with God except God draws that individual to Him. At this moment, God is drawing you unto Him. The reason God desire to save you is because of “SIN”. We are sinners by nature and by choice (Romans 3:23). We deserved eternal death – complete separation from God (Romans 6:23) because God is holy and just and must punish sin. However, God is not willing that we should died in our sins. He offers forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ who is God became a man because He loves us and created us to be His people. He is offering you a way out of the bondage of sin – and you have a choice to believe and find real meaning and fulfillment to life or reject and live on in the discoveries of humanity. This is not about discoveries, but about the heart of man. The Bible states that our heart is deceitfully wicked and in need of a cure. All of the discoveries of humanity cannot cure the wickedness of our heart’s evil only Jesus Christ can and is willing to do so. Your decision – which is the greatest decision you will have to ever make in your life, is the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord of your life. The only way Jesus Christ can affect your life and give you meaning is for you to accept Him and ask Him to forgive you of your sins (John 1:12).

We were created in God image and likeness and due to sin we became corrupt and wicked in the sight of God. Now to become right with God we must 1) Repent of our sin and turn to God to forgive us (Acts 3:19), 2) We must place our faith in Jesus (Eph 2:8-9) – it is more than just believing but completing trusting your eternal existence in Christ.
Do you want the gift of eternal life? Are you willing to acknowledge your sin and to turn away from your sin? Are you willing to place your faith in Jesus Christ?
My friend this is not about discoveries, it’s about your eternal existence both now and in eternity. There is a real purpose and meaning for your life and only Christ the creator of the universal can guide you in such abundance. Jesus states “I am the Way, Truth and Life” John 14:6. Began a dynamic relationship with your creator today and you will never look back.

  6. Haddadv,
I will admit, that is one of the best arguments I have heard, I am glad to hear that you have at least thought out every aspect of your beliefs, and not just blinded agreed to it because of your parents or friends. My parents are extremely Christian, and I was raised as a Baptist, but the more time I spent at the church, the more dissatisfied I felt. For a long time I have struggled with the concept of God, because in some ways, what the author of that article wrote when she said, "I was deeply curious to see if they could convince me otherwise" is partly true. I wish I could find someone who could make me feel 100% positive about my choice concerning the afterlife. I would love to finally feel the comfort of knowing that there is a "God" out there who is protecting me, and promising me a place in paradise after I die, but that has never happened. No one can prove to me the existence of "God" because no one really knows. What I do know for sure, is the effect religion is having on today's society. Ignorance is bliss. This proverb seems to have been adopted by nearly the entire religious community. Look at the Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, why do they go on this suicide missions? They are putting the afterlife before the current life. They would sacrifice the world if that was what it took the reach a happy afterlife. Many would argue that that statement is "over exaggerated" and that they would never have to do anything like that in the name of God, yet everyday, I see people, putting "God" before society. Others say, why do you have a problem with religion? It doesn't affect you, why bother? My answer is, we are all connected to each other, and in a democracy, the ideal held in majority makes the decisions. However, when that ideal is wrong, and actions are made based on the wrong idea, we end up paying the consequences. I will work to change the idea of the majority, and I will strive to fix these problems religion has caused. If you think your right and I'm wrong, argue with me, and whoever has the better idea will win.

  7. Jaerixon,
I truly understand exactly how you feel. There is nothing wrong in wanting to know if there is a God and what happen to people after they die. There are many biblical facts to prove what happen after death, but if you are not sure if God even exist then those facts won’t make much sense right now.
As you can see it is very hard to prove to someone that God does exist. It is like proving to someone who has never being outside that the wind exist. In order for that person to believe that the wind exists that person would have to go outside and feel the wind for him/herself.
In all honesty, the only way for you to know if God exist 100% is for you to experience Him for yourself. It really does not matter what other say if you have never encounter God for yourself. The day you encounter God and know for sure that He is God; that will be the day that you believe 100%.
Saul in the bible was just as curious as you are, until the day he encounter God on his way to Damascus. After his encounter with God, he became one of the greatest evangelists that ever exist. He wrote many of the New Testament books under the leading of the spirit of God. Please read Acts 9 for the full story of his encounter with God.
If you really want to know if God exist, then ask God to reveal Himself to you. Ask Him to allow you to have an encounter with Him. After you read Acts 9, I would like for you to pray and asks God to reveal Himself. Finally, believe on Him when He does reveal.
I enjoy talking to you and would like to know your experience after your encounter with God. Please write be back.
