Testimony - The affect your life style can have on a person

I am sitting here at work getting ready for a four hour meeting this afternoon, getting all the documents and information ready for my presentation. This morning was a rush reviewing several project requirements and being assigned to all of them. It seems like my work load increases every day.

Ever feel like the demands of things around you are increasing daily? That is how I feel sometimes. There are so many people that get upset because I don’t have time to speak to them as often as they would like, and family members questioned why I don’t visit as often. But when there is only one me and hundreds of others to share my time with it become frustrating at times to get everything done. If I really try to be there for everyone I won’t have any time for myself. There should always be time in your life to relax and just breathe without thinking of the million other things you have to accomplish.

Last week I went through an up and down stress moment. Although the things I had to accomplish before the end of the week was nothing new, it seemed a little overwhelming last week. I was already going through an emotional roller coaster and with the added stress; I felt so out of it.

This week I was feeling a little better but still had so much to accomplish at work and in my personal life. Yesterday morning I was walking outside to head off to work and a neighbor of mines stopped me and said, “I don’t want to take up much of your time, but I just wanted to let you know that I have been watching you ever since you moved into this area and you always have a smile on your face. And that makes my day so many times, because it causes me to wonder what makes you so joyful. This morning seeing you with this bright smile, I couldn’t help but asked.” I was a little speechless when she asked me that question because I had to really think about it. I didn’t think I was that smiley. I do know that I smile all the time despite my inner feeling. I normally try not to let my inner feelings show. I looked at her and uttered the following, “Everyone goes through hard times in their lives. But what separates a true Christian from the rest of the world is that we have learned through our relationship with the Lord that we can give it all to Jesus and He will take care of it. We don’t have to worry because we know that he will bring us through. Jesus gives us this deep inner peace and joy that is unspeakable. We can go through things everyday but our focus is not on the present state but on the end result.” She looked at me and smiled and asked what church I went to and I told her about the church and its location. I don’t know if she will come to the church I go to but I believe that the Lord allowed me to plant a seed into her life that morning. It was a great eye opener for me.

Driving to work yesterday I began to think of how many times we go through life and someone is watching us and we don’t even know it. There might be a young person looking at you as a role model and think highly of you. There might be someone looking for something to bring completeness and comfort to their lives, and watching you might be the only way they find God. Not a lot of people want to have someone come into their face with tracks or a Bible trying to preach to them. They want to see you live what you “preach”, if you can’t believe what you are telling them to believe then what is the point. Studying the word of God and applying it to our lives is a very important thing. Anyone can quote a scripture but how many people can live it. That is what separates a true Christian from the fake.

Today when you go out remember that someone is always watching you, what would they see…the Jesus in you or an evil person? Think about it!

God bless!
