God is our Protection, Deliverer, and Strength

Today I was reading the scripture, Psalm 18:2 that reads, “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my Strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and my horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” After reading the scripture I began to look at it in sections. “The Lord is my rock” meant that was a strong foundation for me and if I abide in Him I will not be blown away by the situations in my life. If I stand on that solid rock, my feet will be grounded in his truth and I shall not be moved. The second part “my fortress” means a place of defense, a strong place that an enemy cannot approach. With God protecting us and covering us under his blood there is no harm that can come neigh unto us.  There may be times when we are placed into a situation where our faith and commitment to the Lord is tried but if we continue to trust him we will be victorious. The third part “my deliverer” is when God delivers us from out of our situations and from the enemy. God deliver us each day that we are alive. We should be thankful for his protection and deliverance each day that we wake up. There are many things that happen in the spiritual realm that we don’t see or understand. The fourth part “my strength” means that God gives us strength to go through each situation in our lives. When we get weak he strengthens us to keep going. There are many times when I am in a situation and I think I can’t make it and God comforters me and gives me strength to keep going. That little push and strength will help us to continue moving forward and trusting in him. The fifth part “my buckler” is a shield from harm. This all goes back to being protected from the harm and evil around us each day. The sixth part “my horn of my salvation” the horn normally represent defense. An animal would us their horn for defense that is where their strength lies. Therefore, if God is our horn of our salvation that means that he will be our defense and strengthen of our Christian walk with him. He will defend us from the enemies and the attacks that we will endure during our walk with the Lord. It is sort of having a bigger brother that protects us from bullies and makes us feel proud when we are walking beside him. The final part “my high tower” means that he is our refuge or hiding place from the enemy. Where he is no harm can come near us because it is not accessible to the enemy.

Putting it all together simple tells me that God is my protection, deliverer and strength; all I have to do is TRUST him and he will take care of it all. God wants us to increase our faith in him. He is more than able to defend us and provide for us but we doubt him and try to do it on our own. That method normally turns out causing us more problems and stressing us out. There are many times we could have avoided being stressed if we just keep it all to Jesus. We read and hear the word of God each day but yet we fail to apply it to our lives—that is the most important part. God don’t want us to just read or repeat his words but to apply them to our lives and live it. If God says he will be there for us, believe that he will be there and for us and act like it.

When I was in high school I had a teacher that use to worries herself too much. She worried about everything that is happening around her and it made her completely stressed each day. She had a hard time focusing on the lesson she was trying to teach because she had so many other things on here mind. A month before the course was over she didn’t come back to school and after couple weeks we found out that she died of a nervous breakdown. She worried herself to death. We should never allow ourselves to get to the part where we are over stressed with our situation. You are not alone in this Christian walk, give your cares and burden to the Lord. He will take care of them all.

Today as you read this blog, ask yourself the questions “Do I trust God enough? Do I stress over my situations? Do I believe what the scripture says above (Psalm 18:2)?” After asking yourself those questions try to reach out on faith and trust that God will make a way for you no matter what the situation. There is nothing impossible for him to do—he has no limitation to the miracles he can perform in your life. Turn it over to Jesus and RELAX.
